Why I’m Running

I am running for Eagle County Assessor because this office plays an important role in ensuring fairness and trust in our property tax system.

The County Assessor’s responsibility is to determine the value of property throughout the county in accordance with Colorado law. Those valuations must be accurate, consistent, and applied fairly across all properties. While the Assessor does not set tax rates or determine how tax revenue is spent, the work of the office directly affects property owners, businesses, and local governments across Eagle County.

For that reason, the office requires strong leadership, careful analysis, and a commitment to transparency.

Throughout my career—both in the private sector and in education—I have focused on solving complex problems, leading professional teams, and serving the public with integrity. I spent more than twenty-five years in leadership and executive consulting roles, including many years with IBM working with public-sector clients and managing complex operational systems. Today, as a business and economics teacher at Battle Mountain High School, I continue to work with the next generation of Eagle County residents while remaining deeply engaged in our community.

I have also served locally through nonprofit leadership, including service on the Eagle County School District’s Finance Committee and previously on the executive board of a regional federally qualified health center. These experiences have strengthened my understanding of public finance, governance, and the responsible stewardship of community resources.

If elected, my priorities as Assessor will be straightforward:

• Ensure property valuations are accurate and consistent across the county

• Support the professional staff who perform the technical work of the office

• Communicate clearly with property owners about how valuations are determined

• Promote transparency so residents can better understand the property assessment process

Eagle County is a special place to live and work. My goal as Assessor will be to ensure that the valuation process remains fair, professional, and worthy of the public’s trust.
