Christopher Buono lives in the Town of Eagle with his wife, Dr. Tereza, and their teenage daughter. After more than two decades of leadership experience in the private sector, Chris chose to bring his skills and experience to Eagle County, where he now teaches business and economics at Battle Mountain High School.

Chris spent over twenty-five years in technical leadership and executive consulting roles, including many years with IBM. During that time, he worked extensively with public-sector organizations, leading diverse teams, managing complex operational systems, and helping organizations solve difficult problems responsibly and efficiently. His career required a strong commitment to accuracy, accountability, and ethical leadership—principles that continue to guide his work today.

Since moving to Eagle County three years ago, Chris has dedicated himself to serving the local community. In addition to teaching at Battle Mountain High School, he has been involved in nonprofit board work, including service on the Eagle County School District’s Finance Committee and previously on the executive board of a federally qualified health center. These experiences provided valuable insight into public finance, governance, and the careful stewardship of community resources.

Chris believes that public service should be grounded in professionalism, transparency, and fairness. The work of the County Assessor’s Office affects every property owner in Eagle County, and Chris is committed to ensuring that property valuations are conducted accurately, consistently, and in accordance with Colorado law. Just as importantly, he believes the process should be transparent and understandable to the public.

Chris is running for Eagle County Assessor to bring thoughtful leadership, strong management experience, and a commitment to public integrity to the office. He respects the professional staff who carry out the technical work of property valuation and believes that strong leadership means supporting those professionals with clear direction, modern tools, and a culture of fairness and accountability.

Above all, Chris is committed to serving the people of Eagle County with integrity, professionalism, and respect for the rule of law.
