It Begins Here

March 5, 2026

Good evening… My name is Christopher Buono. <pause>

I live here in the Town of Eagle with my wife and our teenage daughter. I appreciate the opportunity to speak with you tonight and to be part of the Eagle County Republican caucus.

First, I want to express my sincere appreciation for Chairman Dan King, as well as everyone in attendance here tonight. Our local Republican Party plays an important role in encouraging civic participation and supporting candidates who serve their communities. I am grateful for the time and effort each of you invest in that work.

Tonight, I’m pleased to share that I intend to continue that tradition of service by running for Eagle County Assessor. <pause>

I’ve spent more than twenty-five years in leadership and executive consulting roles—most of those years with IBM, where I built a career working with public-sector clients, leading diverse teams, and solving complex problems—all while serving with honor and integrity. Since coming to Eagle County three years ago, I transitioned to education, where today I teach business and economics at Battle Mountain High School.

I’ve also been fortunate to serve the community through nonprofit board work, including service on the Eagle County School District’s Finance Committee and previously on the executive board of a federally qualified health center. Those experiences have given me valuable perspective on finance, public governance, and the responsible stewardship of community resources.

The role of County Assessor is not inherently a political one—not in the traditional sense. The Assessor’s job is to lead professional staff in ensuring that property values are accurate, consistent, and applied fairly across the county. The office requires strong leadership, respect, and a commitment to transparency.

If elected, I will enthusiastically support the professionals who do this work every day. I will ensure our system operates efficiently and fairly, and I will communicate clearly and openly with the people of Eagle County.

As this campaign moves forward, I look forward to earning your support.

Thank you for your time tonight—and thank you for the work each of you does to keep civic engagement strong in Eagle County.
